Karen Kelly Boyce I have never had writer's block. I usually have too many ideas rolling around in my head and not enough time to write all that I want. When I get stuck with the next twist in a plot or the next move of a character, I think about it before I go to sleep and I usually wake up with the answer.
Karen Kelly Boyce The best thing about being a writer is that I am never bored. My head is filled with characters all clamoring for attention. I am always watching people, listening to dialogue, watching for plots.
Karen Kelly Boyce Write every day, even if it just a paragraph. Join a few writing groups. There is something about needing something to share that sparks inspiration. I didn't start writing until I was 52. It is never too late. Never give up.
Karen Kelly Boyce I am currently working on three books. I always work on more than one at a time. I am writing the fifth of my 'rosary' series which is about a five members of a Bible study and how their lives intertwine. I am also writing my fourth of my "Sisters of the Last Straw" children's series. I have also started the first of my new murder mystery series. I write everyday and need to switch around to keep things fresh. I find that when I return to a work I can view it with an objective eye.
Karen Kelly Boyce I get inspired by prayer, dreams, Scripture, and just observing people. When you are looking for inspiration - look around. I write Catholic fiction because that is who I am. Write who you are!
Karen Kelly Boyce My most recent book is "In the Midst of Wolves" which is an adult novel due out in a few weeks. I based the idea on the Bible verse from Matt. 10: 16 "Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; be as shrewd as serpents and simple as doves." How do the good deal with the evil? How do we live with those who are of a 'different' spirit? It is a novel that explores how the pure-hearted live with those who are not.
