Shelly Chalmers It was the day after Halloween, and the writer on deadline had waaaayyyyy too much Halloween candy left in the house. ;)
Shelly Chalmers Getting to create and explore new worlds and new people - and then share them with readers. I might be goddess and creator in my little worlds...but I am always an explorer too, often surprised by what I encounter there.
Shelly Chalmers The mystery of how to ever finish writing all the books and complete all the projects in my head before the end of time, LOL! I am constantly trying to complete projects, and there are always fresh, exciting ideas calling my name. :)
Shelly Chalmers I would love to visit Terry Pratchett's Discworld, especially to meet the witches and Carrot. The combination of humor edged with darkness is something I love about Pratchett's work and strive to bring to my own.
Shelly Chalmers The idea for the Shades series was inspired by my late great-uncle and his men's supper group. This little group of men were so lovely... and absolutely hilarious! They were equally committed to serving their community with pancake lunches and kids' activities... and needling each other. I HAD to recreate that kind of dynamic in a book... and make it clear that just because they were old in years, they were definitely young and vibrant at heart.
Shelly Chalmers I'm working on the third book in the Shades series, "Shade to Measure." I LOVE the Shades and they've been a lot of fun. This new book will introduce readers to a female-owned and run paranormal construction team and the siren who needs her with some enemies to lovers fun. :)
Shelly Chalmers First, write what you really love, not just something you think is "easy" or a quick fix. Because you need to be in this for the long haul and will need to learn all about perseverance, so if you're persevering to share a story you really love, you'll be able to keep dreaming, keep setting goals, and eventually, achieving them. Best of luck to you! :)
