With the power out, Mary nervously crept down the stairs holding her flashlight tightly as the violent storm raged outside, the radio's warning of an escaped dangerous convict fresh in her mind. She passed into the kitchen seeing water on the floor as she shined her light around the room, noticing the kitchen door was wide o ...

Again, from the things I see going on around me. Vietnam Vets beginning to get the respect they were often denied when they returned from the war, the War on terror, the sudden interest in military special operations, government corruption on both sides of the aisle, and then amongst all that ... people ... trying to do the best they can to live, love and take care of their families.

I have always liked to write ... even as a young kid in school. I always did very well on writing assignments through school and college. And, I love to read. I think I could read before I could walk.
So, it seemed natural to want to write. I also love to tell stories. I get my inspiration from life. I think so many people are so focused on their own instant gratification that they miss the happy, sad, exciting, wonderful, dangerous, scary, inspiring, heroic, good, and evil things that go on around them every day! I draw my inspiration from the things I see.

I have two upcoming projects.
One is a collection of letters from WW II. My grandfather was stationed in Japan at the end of the war and assisted with the reconstruction. His wife and children were home in Ilion, NY. TImes were very tough. They wrote to each other almost every day. The letters are beautiful to read and really tug at your heartstrings. They tell a tale of a time many of us today know nothing about and they need to be shared.
I am also doing a children's book about black bears. Growing up we spent our summers in an area with a large bear population and often had interactions with bears while camping, etc. I have a collection of "Bear Tales" that are humorous, heartwarming, and perhaps on a certain level, educational.
These are the projects currently on my [late.

That one is easy. Write! If you want to do something and be good at it, you have to practice. I got started and built up confidence in my own work by writing on Fiverr.com. I wrote book descriptions, martial arts fight scenes, author bios, and did editing for other aspiring writers. It was a big help.

For me, it is the freedom to express yourself. Growing up as a stutterer, I always seemed to have things left unsaid. There is no stuttering when you write! As I have gotten older, my stuttering has become much less of a problem and many people don't even realize I stutter as it happens much less frequently. However, I guess that feeling of things left unsaid still remains. Plus ... I love to tell stories!

I have found that writer's block is often simply my brain telling me it is unhappy with the direction I have taken in the story. I usually just delete whatever I was working on when the writer's block began, and start over on that section of the book.
