Zeami Motokiyo's 15th century play "The Well-Cradle" (Izutsu), which is about the ghost of a woman who grew taller in her lover's long absence, and now, having clothed herself in their left behind court garb, is waiting for them to return to her. This is also why Grey Dawn is structured like a Noh play!

Grey Dawn was originally a short story, back in 2017! I wrote it on request from a friend, in response to a writing prompt in a writers' group online. I never would've imagined it'd become a book, let alone my first, but here we are!

There are a lot of good things about being a writer, but one of them is definitely the idea that I'm writing words that are, hopefully, going to outlive me and keep reaching people long after I'm gone. It's a kind of immortality.
