I was working for a company, City Challenge, on a corporate training day where the clients were finding clues around London. My clients were struggling with a clue around the Royal Tank Regiment Memorial, and I had an image of them coming to life, perhaps with some impatience, to give my clients the answer. The idea grew from there.

I've taken to reading some of the Jack Reacher series. I've been a police officer and mountain guide, and a writer friend suggested there was a potential character somewhere in those experiences that I wouldn't mind developing. So, I read to see how things might tumble into place.
