Krysta MacDonald In The Girl with the Empty Suitcase, Danielle has a very... complicated... relationship with her mother. I wanted to explore this idea that there is always a reason that people are the way they are, and everyone has a story we know nothing about. One, average day says so much about a person, even more than those "big moments". That's the reality of life for us all. Plus the early 60s was a tumultuous time for young women. All of that is coming together in my current work in progress.
Krysta MacDonald My next novel, which looks at one day in the life of a young newlywed in 1963. The protagonist is familiar - Danielle, from The Girl with the Empty Suitcase, will one day be her daughter.
Krysta MacDonald Follow Nike's advice and just do it. Try. Read. Push through. Read some more. Listen to advice. Take the advice that fits you. Then read some more. Don't be too hard on yourself, but don't be too easy on yourself either. Then read a bit more.
Krysta MacDonald I don't get writer's block in terms of deciding what will happen, so much as how it will happen. Generally, I go back to reread and edit previous chapters. It gets me into the frame of the story I need to get back on track. Plus, bonus editing!
