Don't let criticism get you down. It's easier said than done, but it's important to remember that you're just not going to please everyone.
Other than that, my best advice for aspiring writers who one day want to sell their work is to put time not only into their writing, but into learning other helpful skills like marketing as well.
We live in a noisy world with so many people trying to be heard, if you're an excellent writer and you have the basic knowledge around how to get your book seen, you'll be more likely to see success.
