I've always been captivated by stories that feature alternative realities, like The Matrix and Divergent! I love how other realities can help us to understand our own a little differently. When I first started thinking about Within the Ward, I wondered what would happen if a dream reality was seen as the cure for mental health issues. I imagined a teenage girl in a sort of nightmare, running up the trail of a volcano, and went from there.
