Read something from every genre. It may not be what you want to write, but the storytelling elements to be found across the literary spectrum are often universal, and seeing them told in a new way may just spark something in your own creativity.
Also, TAKE ACTING CLASSES. Nothing has helped me get into my own characters' heads more than being an actor. Be it improv or community theatre, try and find a physical outlet for your storytelling.

For me, writing holds the same magic as performing. I get to create something magical, and put it on display for anyone to see. I get to bring people into my imagination, and perhaps build something no one has ever seen. As an actor, bringing a blank stage to life with only my words and my body has always been its own adventure. As a writer, my stage is simply a page instead, and it is just as thrilling.

I grew up in a family of writers, artists, and storytellers. I've always been surrounded by literature and creativity, and it's the lifestyle I've aspired to for as long as I can remember. Writers, like actors, have a varied and flexible life. New roles allow you to disappear into new settings, and writing fresh stories does the same.

I'm working on several different projects at the moment, including Book II of the Mapweaver Chronicles! This series takes up most of my time and creativity, but some other projects include an urban fantasy, a fluffy geeky chick lit piece, and a handful of other high fantasy projects.

I have always asked myself the question "what else." More often than not, writer's block is just your brain trying to tell you that something you've ALREADY written is wrong, rather than something you're about to write. Going back and fixing those problems, by asking "what ELSE could I have done here?" almost always fixes it up for me.
