What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Charlene Sponsel They say “write what you know” but the fantasy genre exists outside of that and yet we can explore our world in a unique way. At the same time it isn’t bad advice. Apply what you know to your characters. They can guide your story to new heights and experiences. Get to know them, fall in love with them (antagonists too). Now, squeeze them and see what happens.

How do you get inspired to write?

Charlene Sponsel Music, nature, and dreams.
The truth is inspiration comes from everywhere, from hearing the perfect theme song for a character to seeing the mountains in Valdez and the Hawaiian Islands. The misery of a friends journey cross country. The sunsets over the Arizona desert.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Charlene Sponsel I was playing with an epic story of the same world, creating family trees. I fell in love with these characters two hundred cycles in the past.
