Sarah Richmond 'Mrs. Pratt's War' started with a visit to the War Museum in London. The staff had built a trench warfare scenario complete with the sounds of mortars exploding overhead and gunfire.
I wondered how anyone ever survived and if they did, how did they ever forget when they got home?
The book became a dedication to those brave soldiers.

Sarah Richmond I enjoy creating worlds where my characters can achieve great things. I wish I could say writing was as easy as making stuff up, but some things can't be made up they are so onerous, or heinous, or in some cases so delightful and those things must be shared.

Where do you find inspiration?

A good idea for a villain inspires me. Other writers who tell remarkable stories inspire me. People-watching inspires me.
Sarah Richmond I don't know if there's really such a thing as writers' block. Sometimes the words get jammed so I listen to music. Or do something else for a while.
Sarah Richmond I'm reading 'Cell' by Robin Cook for my book group.
Sarah Richmond I'm working on a second book using the same characters from "A Perilous Proposal". The second book continues with the hero who is a barrister and the heroine who is a milliner and their quest for social justice in Edwardian England.
