'Mrs. Pratt's War' started with a visit to the War Museum in London. The staff had built a trench warfare scenario complete with the sounds of mortars exploding overhead and gunfire.

The best advice I ever got was don't give up. My first writing instructor handed out a poster of a mongoose with his teeth at a python's throat while the python was wrapped around the mongoose's body. The legend was: Don't give up!

I enjoy creating worlds where my characters can achieve great things. I wish I could say writing was as easy as making stuff up, but some things can't be made up they are so onerous, or heinous, or in some cases so delightful and those things must be shared.

I don't know if there's really such a thing as writers' block. Sometimes the words get jammed so I listen to music. Or do something else for a while.

I'm working on a second book using the same characters from "A Perilous Proposal". The second book continues with the hero who is a barrister and the heroine who is a milliner and their quest for social justice in Edwardian England.
