Clare Cassy Two very good friends of mine went to live in Hinojos, just outside Seville in Spain and they invited me to go and see them for a short holiday. Hinojos is a magical little village and I was there at the time of their celebrated, annual Feria. I witnessed many of the events I mention in the story - the carrying of the Madonna from the church around the village, the wonderful Flamenco dancing in the streets, families inviting people into their cassettas and that really romantic horse parade of the engaged couples. I just had to come up with a good story and weave my characters around these wonderful events.
Clare Cassy People and places inspire me to write. Topics in the news and radio programmes can be extremely inspirational.
Clare Cassy I am currently getting a trilogy of books together. The first one, "The Bed and Breakfast Queen," will be out on Amazon by Christmas.
Clare Cassy Don't give up. Keep writing. Maybe join a creative writing group, where you can get feedback on your work. I think it is also a good idea to set a story in an area that you are familiar with.
Clare Cassy You can become someone else! I don't know about you, but I get bored being me. When you are creating a character you have to think like them and worry like them. In short, be them.
Clare Cassy I make some good, freshly ground coffee, switch off my phone and get comfy with my laptop. Then, I just start writing. Some days are better than others but I find it helps if you are disciplined and write a little every day (ideally at the same time) rather than a lot once a month.
