I've never had it. I think if I ever did it would be because I am trying to impress or write for someone else or someone else's idea of what is good writing. I think it was Forrester who said, "Above all else know thy self." When we write we must know our true selves and have the guts to shape characters and stories on our own terms.

Wrap Your Body in Time is a semi-autobiographical plunge into a critical question: when facing a terminal disease is it more important to find inner peace with our own demons or take debilitating medical measures in an often futile attempt to extend our lives. I watched my father, whom I had a complicated relationship with but loved deeply, wither away taking chemotherapy and undergoing radiation treatment for the final 14 months of his life. This experience was the main impulse for the novel.
