I was heavily involved with research into alternative generators of electricity and the free energy online community. There are many stories of free energy circulating the internet. Many hoaxes and fraud, but also come very serious hobbyists and home engineers as well as many qualified scientists and engineers like myself. The device that is central to The Locke Cipher, the Lockridge device, anecdotally did exist and I interviewed several times the person who claimed to have seen and partially dismantle one. So the premise of The Locke Cipher is what would happen if one of these devices was discovered today?

Good question. For me it takes a long time before I begin to create a manuscript. I think the research has to sink in and I have to delve into the story over and over like a movie or series of memories in my head. Then I start to block out the story on paper a few chapters at a time.

Not the writing! The best thing about being a creative writer is the unique experience only you get as the creator of the story being told. The story and the characters are so alive and real, their experiences and back stories, all talking to you as you strive to put into words what they are showing you.

I take a step back. When I write I start with everything in block capitals, planning out a few chapters at a time. Then I go back and begin breaking down the blocks into voice of the story. This may happen mid chapter as a line of dialogue I know my character might say. From there I work forward and backward adding in what is necessary for the chapter to flow and push the plot on.
If I can't even think of what to write at the block capital stage then it's time do go be creative elsewhere and come back later.
