Chad Josey Yes, let's do this. I will PM you to exchange addresses.
Chad Josey I would like to say ever since I was a child I dreamt of being a writer. That would not be true. However, I always had a very active imagination, which has served me well in my professional career as an engineer and project manager.

My first year living in Germany (2013), one day I noticed how quiet it was on the tram going to work. I imagined what would happen if I just stood up and screamed. I know... a weird thought.

That evening, I was channel-surfing and watched a program (in German) about various scenarios about the end of the world. The background music was ominous, and I was frustrated because I could not understand the language.

During the night, I had a dream where I was told about the end of the world, and I had to keep this a secret. Later in the dream, I am on the same tram, stand, and scream, "We're all gonna die!" Then, I woke. Because of the day's events, my brain created that dream.

During the following days of walking our dog, I would replay the dream and kept adding to a plot, which eventually developed into "Secret Salvation." I impressed myself with the plot, and I felt compelled to outline the idea. Then, one evening, I just started writing... three years later, I published "Secret Salvation".
Chad Josey Book Two of the "Salvation Trilogy" with the goal to publish by early Summer 2018
Chad Josey To keep writing. To keep learning. To keep practicing. To be open to constructive criticism. To be an observer. And, to be willing to live outside of the box.
Chad Josey Being an engineer by training, I have to prove my designs or recommendations. In my writing, while I attempt to reference true or theoretical science (i.e., how to travel to Mars in 6 weeks from Earth), I do not have to prove it. Therefore, I use the actual science and theory and write that as fact.

The second "best" thing about being a writer is the ability to express thoughts of a story out on paper (err computer screen) and through the editing process, see the actual story develop.
Chad Josey I wouldn't necessarily say I struggle with "writer's block" but more so getting into the mindset to write. For me, it was surely easier living in Germany because evenings were very quiet. Back stateside, there seem to be so many distractions, but this is probably because everything is in English and my brain just gravitates to that versus being able to block out German. But, to answer the question -- I just push through.
