Peter DeHaan I couldn't think of anything, but...

I have a not-yet-published memoir "God, I Don't Want to Go to Church."

The mystery--at least to some--is why I keep going back when people keep pushing me away.
Peter DeHaan Shari, that's a great question. A preview would be a nice option, but there is no way to do that.

Peter DeHaan I love to write and have too many ideas of what I want to write about, so inspiration is seldom an issue. My problem is turning off the inspiration.

I keep lists of book ideas, along with possible book titles and concepts. I do the same for my blog.
Peter DeHaan I know this will irritate some people, but I don’t believe in writer’s block.

When you have a job, you get up in the morning and go to work, whether you feel like it or not. You push through and do what’s expected of you and what you’re paid to accomplish.

Writing is my job. I get up, and I write. Sometimes (most times), it’s easy and the words flow—good words. Occasionally, it’s harder to connect the right words together, and they don’t flow as fast, but I do it anyway because it’s my job.
Peter DeHaan I get ideas for my writing from all around me: something I observe, what I’m curious about, a random thought, a word from a friend, the things I study and contemplate, a book I want to read but can’t fine, and movies, but mostly from God. Yes, I think the Holy Spirit is behind all of this. I have more book ideas than I will ever be able to write, so the challenge is prioritizing what to write next.
Peter DeHaan Being able to use words to create art that will affect others. My vision is to change the world one word at a time.
Peter DeHaan 1. Start calling yourself a writer (drop the word aspiring).

2. Write every day, even if it’s just a few minutes. And if you can't write everyday, find a schedule that will work for you--and then stick with it.

3. Share your work and get feedback from trusted people who will be both honest and kind.
