Cynthia Crestmore The best thing, besides sharing the experience with my daughter, is the research. For me, this meant visiting wildlife rescue centers. While I could not get too close, I loved watching the animals and finding out what was unique about each one. More than that was meeting the volunteers and staff at the centers. They put in so much effort (remember the animals need care every day); some volunteers, teen and adult have been helping out for years! The last thing, which is very special and humbling, is to share my book with teens, some of which have been through very difficult life changing experiences. I am just a writer and they are so strong and brave, I am honored that they want to read my book.
Cynthia Crestmore When I cannot write anymore, I take a break. But I always take paper and pen or something to write down ideas. It helps sometimes to get the sensory details you need. Say, if your character is going to the mall, then go the mall. Or a coffee place. If that doesn't work, then knock off a few things on your "to-do" list that you keep putting off because you are writing.
Cynthia Crestmore I am currently working on both books two and three in the Laurie series. Book two is called Sometimes Laurie. There is a sneak preview at the end of Just Laurie. I have not picked the title yet for the third book.
