Tree of Lives was generated by an amazing (and terrible) event that I learned about, and confirmed by a dream I had the night my mother died. The deadline was given when I got a breast cancer diagnosis which made me think deeply about my legacy. Luckily, I am OK these days, but one never knows, does one?

It's usually pretty obvious when something needs to be written about. Something happens that stands out, sometimes subtle and sometimes dripping with deeper meaning. I get a lot of information by listening to nature and coincidences.

My book is self-published so I have a lot of marketing work to do, so that's (unfortunately) what is keeping me busy. It's sort of fun to learn about book marketing, but I do feel a little in the dark about to get the world's attention, so right now I'm just trying EVERYTHING. I read an article about the importance of GoodReads, so here I am.

I write if there is something I noticed and want to express or point out. So, in that sense, I'm lucky I don't HAVE to write, just to write. I didn't know what order things would happen in my story, either. I worried about the composition later, and wrote vignettes. It helped to get up really early, like about 4 am, when all was quiet. The only problem with that was that my dog got up with me and still expects to eat at 4 am! At least she can hold on until 6 now, but I'm still an early riser.
