Hey, J.P.!
Congratulations on your novels! I just looked up the first one on Amazon and it looks interesting. Because of my day job schedule, more than 95% of what I read is in audiobook format. I do very much enjoy a good audiobook, and I try and review everything I read/listen to because as an author myself, I know how important reviews are to the writer. If you have a code for the audiobook, then I can certainly check it out and leave a review when I'm done. If it were eBook, I couldn't tell you when I'd have time to get to it, and don't want to leave you hanging. But with an audiobook, I can probably get to it within the next few weeks. Send me an email to authorchrismiller@gmail.com and we can discuss the rest. Thanks for reaching out and I hope you'll check out one of my books. All my longer work is in audio as well as print and ebook, except for the newest one, THE DAMNED PLACE, but the audiobook for that one is in production now and should be out in a few months. I look forward to your email.

The idea for 'A Murder of Saints' came from an event I witnessed in my teenage years. I was at a church my family attended in our small town, and there was a very well respected elder in the church who was found to be a pedophile. Then the fallout, a church split, bitterness and anger, people losing their faith, and so on. I even went to the first day of testimony in his trial and was so disgusted with what I heard I couldn't go back. Through the following years, this event stuck with me, and the "What if?" questions started sparking in my mind. It was only the leap-off point for my novel, but the questions it posed, what might have happened if x, y, or z had resulted from this awful event, turned into a nightmare story of which I'm very proud.

Inspiration, for me, comes from any number of places. Sometimes it's events in my life which lead to questions like "What if?" (like my recently released title, 'A Murder of Saints'). Other times it comes from current events, or even TV and books I've read which spark other ideas, from multiple sources, which then form and mold together to an original story of my own. Keep an eye out, inspiration can come from LITERALLY anywhere.

I'm currently working on an epic-length horror/suspense novel which will likely be turned into a pair of books instead of a single release as originally intended. Luckily, since the book has two timelines following the same set of characters (1990 & 2016), I think this will work out. Look for it in the next year or so.

Read a lot and write a lot. Every day if you can. It isn't always possible, with careers and families and such, but carving out as much time as you can for these two things is absolutely essential. A good writer MUST be a constant reader. There's really no other way to do it.

The best thing about being a writer is finding out what the story is before anyone else. When I write, I don't plan or map anything out. I get an idea and some characters in my head, then starting writing. The characters tell me the story, and when I think I know just how things are going to turn out, I'm always proved wrong. We get to create worlds and people, almost like a deity, but the worlds and people we create tell us these wonderful tales we then get to share with the world. It's a really awesome thing!

This is something I rarely deal with, fortunately, but when it does happen, there a couple things I do. Either I take a step back for a few days or just power through with crappy writing which can be edited later, or I move on to something else for a while and come back to the work I was stuck on with a fresh mind. In any case, this always has done the trick for me.
