Tony Jones My completely awesome agent, Kathy Helmers, and I are working on two ideas at the moment. One is a book on prayer that I've wanted to write for a long time — I think it will be the perfect follow-up to DGKJ and here's why: In this book, I lay out a view of God that many people will find novel, even controversial. But this view of God raises a lot of questions about God's potency in the world, and that, in turn, raises questions about why in the world we would pray to God.

The other book that we're developing is also about God, but it's about meeting God in the wilderness. It will be less of a theoretical-theological book, and more of a memoir-ish book about the places that I have found God.
Tony Jones When I was younger, I suffered from writer's block on occasion. That doesn't happen anymore. Once I'm committed to a book (or, for that matter, a blog post), I seem to think about it constantly. So when I sit down to write, my mind is already about 10 pages ahead of the manuscript. The discipline comes in writing those ten pages and allowing my fingers to catch up with my mind.
Tony Jones The only way to write is to write. Tautological as that may be, it's true. If you don't exercise that muscle, it'll go flaccid.

Also, read. A lot.
Tony Jones Honestly, it started as a series of blog posts, evolved into a self-published ebook, and ultimately became a full-length hardcover. It's a testament to the way that publishing works these days. The popularity of those blog posts and the ebook convinced both my agent and the publisher that this is a topic that people want to hear from me on.
