Kevin Murphy Way back, when I was still in high school, I really wanted to create a game.
Not just any game, I wanted the game to have interesting and incredibly stylish abilities such as necromancers raising circles of skeletons around themselves in an instant or druids melding into trees to rapidly warp through forests. I dreamed of a world, vivid with NPC hierarchies that the players could infiltrate, becoming masters of thieves’ guilds or of mercenary guards. I wanted a massive, open world where guards could be hired to escort a caravan, while brigands might lie in wait in the tree branches of a dark forest to ambush passing merchants—all with real-time, skill-based combat.

The amount of time, effort, and technology for a game of that scope was beyond reason and beyond profitability. I didn’t pursue that goal, but I kept my ideas for that world in an old notebook, tucked away in a closet. It was only after reading several LitRPG novels that I remembered the notebook and the urge to create a game world was rekindled.

So, it’s a version of something I’ve been wanting to create for half of my life. I just never knew there were so many other like-minded authors and readers.
