Wait, no. That was writer's block.

I find inspiration all around me. I used to play RPGs on a regular basis, and I was a theater kid in high school, and I was bullied. So, with that mix, I spent a lot of my childhood thinking about what it would be like to be someone else. Being "anyone but me" was a great source of inspiration for a lot of my characters.

I'm always thinking, "what if?" I think that's the most important source of inspiration. Look around you and think about what might change if...
Tam Chronin I am working on The Arcane Wars right now. It's the story of how the wizards overthrew the gods and stole their power. Elemental is Agrad's journal. The Arcane Wars is where the story really begins.
Tam Chronin Practice. Accept that you're going to write a lot of garbage before you write something that someone else likes. Get all that garbage out of the way, get someone to help you sort through it so you know what the garbage is, and what the hidden gems are. If you keep at it long enough, you'll find the garbage slowly goes from 90% of your writing, to 25% or less. Weeding out that last 25% is why the universe invented beta readers and editors. Learn to love them. They bear bad news, they deflate your ego, but they are invaluable.
