I was born with a passion for horses. I spent the first 25 years of my life absorbing any and all information I could on them, owned my first two ponies, showed a neighbor's horse, and went to work at two Class A hunter/jumper stables in my late teens and 20s. The novel Mystery Horse at Oak Lane Stable came from my life around horses, although fictionalized, of course.

I have developed such a writing habit that when I've been away from my laptop for too long, I start to get grumpy and out of sorts, as my mother used to say. I write daily and usually have plenty to work on. I love writing so it's not difficult for me to stay inspired.

I am working on the sequel to Mystery Horse at Oak Lane Stable, a collection of memoir pieces, and I have had an idea for a young adult historical novel since graduate school that wants attention, too. This novel will require a lot of research, so I can start with that while I work on the next horse novel.

Do not give up. No matter how many rejections you receive (and you will receive them ) keep writing and submitting. Work on polishing your craft and manuscripts. Reading also helps with your work.

I love the opportunity to allow stories to find their way onto the page. I enjoy the whole creative process from starting with an idea, working with my imagination to form the story to finishing the book or shorter piece.

I have been journaling daily for almost 22 years, so it helps to keep new ideas forming and often offers solutions to writing issues if I'm having any on the pieces I'm currently working on.
I also have a yoga practice and walk/run. The physical activity offers me a fresh perspective on my writing. I can have ideas while I'm out in nature or upside down in Downward Dog.

I love journaling as well! I've been for many years and it's so refreshing. I enjoy writing on a brand new page. Sometimes it takes a small recharge to get your thoughts flowing again. For me its listening to music or taking a brief nap or just enjoying the outdoors.

I journal right away in the morning. It sets my day up to be more productive. I need time outside to just breathe and be filled with inspiration. I just read your bio. If I was bored in class, I would also write a story or draw to pass the time. I don't think teachers knew what to do with the creative kids, except let them create.
