Tal Tsfany I get to call the shots. I control the whole thing and can move the plot and characters as I wish. I can imagine a world and the people in it to tell my story, and portray the ideas that are important to me.
Tal Tsfany I move to editing mode. I try to make what I write better.
Sometimes, as I edit, the creativity spark lights up again and I can move back to writing mode.
Tal Tsfany There are many, and I plan to write a blog post about it, but in short:

Have a plan. Make the plan real by thinking of all the details that required to make it happen.
What worked for me is taking time on weekends and just writing and writing without any editing. Then, during the week, I would think about the plot, the characters and how I should further develop them. That doesn't require a lot of time - it just requires thinking and some notes on your task list.

Once you're in front of your desk - decide in which of the 2 different modes you're going to be - writing or editing.

If you feel creative and motivated - write. Don't edit. Let it out. Let the characters speak freely, let your subconscious lead the way even if it doesn't make any sense.

If you feel you can't write - still use the time to edit, organize the plot, the characters, make the story believable by reading out loud and identifying gaps or weak spots.

Oh, you see? I told you it is worthy of a whole blog post - I can go for hours with all the things I've learned in the process of writing Sophie...

So I'll stop here, but please feel free to send me any specific questions you have.
Tal Tsfany Finishing Sophie.
Tal Tsfany I get those "sparks". They can come at me at any given moment of the day. "What if...?" is the best question that triggers those sparks.
Once a "spark" hits me - I can't wait to get to my desk and let my subconscious lead the way onto the paper.
Tal Tsfany I read a book about a determined, principled hero who didn't compromise - no matter what the price was.
I wanted to create the same type of hero and inspiration for my kids.
