Rory Headren Years of research! Thucydides, Plutarch, Cassius Dio, Xenophon, plus all I could glean from more modern publicly available sources. The rest was down to divine intervention!
Rory Headren Newcastle upon Tyne. A Geordie!
Rory Headren Extremely slow but steady is all I can answer! There are so many promotional strategies that I am having to learn about, but I believe the strength of the story telling in the Rory Headren Books will attract readers who love ancient historical fiction. They really are good reads!
Rory Headren Since opening up my author pages this year, I have been inundated with proposals to help promote the books. As you can probably tell already, I am a tortoise not a hare and it is taking me some time to consider all the options. I appreciate the interest your group has shown in the Rory Headren Books and yes, any advice is most welcome.
Rory Headren I only began posting on my Facebook and Goodreads author pages this year. It is two years since Harry died and I needed something to focus on. Promotion of the Rory Headren Books has only just begun. Rory Headren was his idea. An anagram of Harry and Doreen!
Rory Headren That came from an original idea by my late husband, Harry, who studied ancient history and archaeology at Newcastle University. He was procrastination personified, however, and I ended up writing the story myself after reading Thucydides account of the Peloponnesian War! Two other books followed, The Sword of Thebes and The Axe of Thrace, which completed the 27 year war.
Rory Headren Hi, The treasured Shield from the Battle of Marathon was an original idea of my late husband, Harry, who studied Ancient History and Archaeology at Newcastle University! The story behind how I wrote the book is another story! Theomenes and his slave Mydon were, in the beginning, just examples of average Platateans who became caught up in the war between the super powers of Athens and Sparta, but they became more significant due to them being so young. As my research increased, they were at the right age to be involved in many of the major events and Theomenes became a useful character to experience the long, 27 year war. Thank you for the question!
