Mostly I get my ideas when I am not able to write them down. When I am under the shower, when I drive somewhere, shortly before I fall asleep. If the idea is persistent enough it gets to a point I need to sit down and start writing and then I use inspiration of my daily life, my dreams and the myriad books I read (mostly "What would I rather have had happened") to carry on until the book is done.

If you want to be a writer, sit down and write. Just do it.
Amazon (and others I guess) make it easy to selfpublish but take care to give as good a book as you can. Find people to proofread your story. Talk to others, get input and unbiased opinions. But don't be afraid. Maybe someone is out there, just waiting for the story you write. There can never be too many books!

I try to clear my mind. Biking, swimming, listening to good music. Anything not related to the topic I want to write about. That's the time I read thrillers or even horror. And then I get back to my Romantasy stories and feel happy to be there again. Most of the times it helps. If not, I start a completely new story and see if it flows better.

My sister and I were throwing ideas back and forth and came up with a story we wanted to write together. Then we went to bed where unfortunately her story and mine grew so far apart that we couldn't consolidate them. Neither could we decide which one was better. So now I write mine, she writes hers and we will put them both in one book. Sisterpower!

A palatinate fantasy story, playing in my home town in Germany.
But I have another English fairytale book planned too!

I like being able to write the stories I want to read and give others something to enjoy. And the very best is when readers come to me to tell me how much they liked my book!
