My dog Reed lived in an animal shelter for 4 years and had a really hard time there. Many people who knew him and tried to work with him, thought he was "unadaptable" because he had ZERO manners and had a hard time changing while living in the shelter environment. My husband and I decided to adopt him, to give him a chance and he is now a therapy dog for children. One of the schools we visit regularly has seen Reed's story resonate with so many children, that they urged me to write it down and turn it into a children's book, so that it can impact even more lives. I finally did that and it has been one of the most exciting choices ever!
