What I love about being a writer is it gives me a positive outlet to sort out my life. Writing is like free therapy to me. Many times I write about events going on in my personal life and it helps for me to be able to dissect things and look for the deeper meaning behind everything that happens.

If I get writer's block, I put whatever I am working on away and come back to it later. Sometimes days, other times months or years. I come back to it when I feel the time is right. Due to this, I do have many story ideas lying around that are not finished.
I do better with writing poetry. Poetry is something I can finish fairly quickly and then move on to the next one without getting writer's block.

Keep writing. the only way you are going to improve your writing is with practice. Also, never give up. You may get frustrated at times, but keep going. You can do this if you want it bad enough.

The poetry collection "Peeling Sanity" is a memoir through poetry. So its based on childhood memories and mental illness. I have depression, anxiety and also bipolar disorder. The collection is based on my own personal life experiences. It's a look inside my soul and my experiences. In short, it was inspired by mental health issues and ways to cope with "invisible illnesses".

Inspiration comes to me in waves and is usually based on what is going on in my life. I go through phases where I write more than others. Though life events are the main thing that inspires me, I am sometimes inspired by music, movies, and books.
