I spend time everyday writing. Sometimes it's fifteen minutes and sometimes it's hours. To me, the inspiration comes from working on a novel every day. New ideas pop up more often if I keep at it.

I came up with the idea of the ship first - what could happen if a ship could traverse the shallow waters of the Amazon? The characters and adventure were built around that idea.
