I loved reading before I stayed during holidays at my grandfather’s house.
My grandfather wasn’t interested in books so at seven after reading the one Enid Blyton book I owned, several times and then copying out each word of the ‘Enchanted Woods’ , I began to write my own stories. In my early teens I wrote short stories that I passed around my dormitory in boarding school.

Write your first draft without editing it. I wasted a lot of time editing work I eventually binned. Also if you are particularly attached to a line then it’s probably the line you have ‘over crafted’ - get rid of it.

Write everyday at the same time even if you are writing nonsense to begin with. Once you’ve begun your brain warms up...
