Michele Parent While putting my 5 year old to bed. Her daddy reads her stories and I'm the "make stories up from scratch" type. That night this magical little story came fully formed on its own. I watched myself tell my daughter a beautiful story that had an empowering message and a life of its own. Been honored and humbled ever since that it chose me to give it life and a voice.
Michele Parent I don't have that issue, I have WVS (writing vomit syndrome). Or we could explain this more eloquently as the Niagara Falls of words. I do have illustrator block, though. That is where I get challenged and resist. I trigger deeper fears, I judge my work, I impose expectations... It's me and my ego dancing a messy Tango. Blocks come when we don't allow flow. Some writers get scared of what they write, it makes them uncomfortable and they get caught up in their minds. Imagine words to be like a river, if you put pressure and blockages, it's not going to flow well. Writing can be healing, whatever emotions you trigger during blocks, they mean something. Listen to them, find their root emotions and how this may tie to some childhood emotion. Honor, don't judge, acknowledge and love yourself whatever happens.
Michele Parent Get out of your head. Magic exists only in one's heart and you must find the courage in vulnerability. Your mind is far smaller and limiting than your heart. Feel your way through a story, let it flow. Ditch expectations, they bread disappointment and fear. You are more than that. True storytelling is authentic, often raw and vulnerable.
Michele Parent At the moment I am translating The sparkle Within the Darkness to French, called L'étincelle dans l'obscurité. I'm also creating some meditations, coloring pages and a teacher's guide for this project.

The second book is being illustrated as well. It is called Have You Ever Wondered. About questioning what we are told, what we see and what we think. Reality can be distorted robbing young minds from the truth. Teaching them early one to question and be empowered by this process of seeking truth even when it's uncomfortable.

I'm also working on a teen short story called The Bully Within. It also has a short workbook and journal area. Will have meditations and teacher's guide as well.
Michele Parent All of the stories I've written have come through visions. I either see an image and the storyline in my mind out of nowhere or I'll be talking about something unimportant and it will come right out of my mouth unexpectedly. It's pretty "magical", I feel like the stories choose me and I give them life by typing them out.
