P.D. Smarslok Actually, it's a mix of several parks in PA and Ohio, although Kennywood Park in West Mifflin, PA has always been my favorite because of its history and nostalgic feel. I suppose it had the most influence.
Thanks for the question.
P.D. Smarslok Well, years ago when I was feeding my german shepherd after work, there was some time that was unaccounted for.
I built a big dog house for him about fifty feet from my house. The path to his house was a gradual slope. It was winter, and there was snow on the ground. With a bucket of water in one hand and his food in the other, I was trudging up the hill, eyes fixed to the ground. Suddenly, I noticed I was surrounded by a spotlight. It kept pace with me all the way to my dog's house. At first, I thought it was a helicopter looking for a missing person or something like that. The strange thing is it was very quiet. I should have heard the propellers. I finally looked up, I had to know what it was. I stared into a black, starless sky. The light was gone.
Upon returning to my house, my wife asked me what took me so long. Apparently, I was up there for forty -five minutes. It only takes about ten to fifteen minutes at the most to feed and give him water during the week.
I don't remember doing anything different than I usually did, however, I couldn't account for the lost time.

Wow, that's a tough one that I don't think I can answer. I think a horror story has to build, develop background, mood, and characters to be effective.
Let me know if you come up with one.

I'd say just do it. You'll find that writing is not an easy thing and you'll probably go over your manuscript a hundred times. I always liken it to fracking wine until you get it to where you want it.
Thanks for the question.

It's hard to explain, I get these ideas floating around in my head, especially when I'm doing three miles at the track or on the treadmill. Once I get a thought it sticks with me, or should I say bothers me until I can work out a whole scenario.
Thanks for the question.

That's a good question. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Since the summer of your question has passed, I will tell you what I'd like to read this summer. I've just finished Suicide Forest by Jeremy Bates and I would like to read more by him. I also like Bentley Little, Kristopher Rufty, Ian Robb Wright, and you can't go wrong with Dean Koontz.
P.D. Smarslok Three books are currently in the works. Blood On The Vine is currently in editing, hopefully, it will be out before Halloween. I've started a new novel, The House That Wouldn't Die, which will be out next year. And I'm revising The Silent War which I'm almost through with. There is also a third book in that series I'm working on.
P.D. Smarslok The idea for The Silent War, came from a book I read about a psychologist, who had several patients, who claimed they had been abducted by aliens. This person also taught at a very prestigious institute, who had shunned him for four years, because of his research into this subject.
I thought I'd take it from there, and expand the story, giving it a little twist in a direction that I've never seen before in print.
P.D. Smarslok What really excites me is how the story changes from the time I start writing, until I finish the book. The story line takes many twists and turns, and sometimes doesn't look at all, like what I had originally intended. When I'm finally finished, and can read it all the way through, and enjoy it, as if I'm reading a book from another author, that's when I feel really good.
P.D. Smarslok I like to run at a local track, listening to my music. Oddly enough, it is at those times when something will pop into my mind, and break the block.
