Sef Churchill Being able to create worlds of my own, full of people I'd like to meet (plus some I wouldn't relish meeting). Having that freedom to escape to other worlds of my own making.
Sef Churchill Start writing. Not worldbuilding or reading about writing or talking about writing, but actually sitting down and writing.
Sef Churchill Sometimes things strike me - something I've read recombining in my head with something I've seen or heard - but at other times I set myself challenges to come up with X number of weird ideas that day. I think practising at being creative, at having ideas, is important. If you practise, you are prepared when a deadline appears.
Sef Churchill Keep writing. Write something which seems irrelevant. Write every day even when you feel there's nothing there. I find that feeling blocked is usually the result of overwhelm (too many ideas or projects) or an acknowledgement that there's a problem with the current story. The more the pen is in your hand, the more likely it is that you'll be ready when the answer comes to you.
Sef Churchill I'm working on the second draft of my light-hearted fantasy novel (for adults). I also have a paranormal romance novella which I'm working on in spare moments.
Sef Churchill The Narwhallama was my daughter's idea, and I decided to write her this book for Christmas. It's fantasy, which is my usual genre, but I'd not written for her age group before so it was a proper challenge.
