'Finding Aurora' is meant to be, in essence, rather 'Disney'. I just loved the episode of 'Once Upon a Time' when Red Riding Hood kissed Dorothy Gale to wake her from a sleeping curse! It was so pure and lovely and I wanted more.
There are lots of fantastic appropriations of fairy tales, but I found myself wanting to see or read something with all the 'PG' style cuteness and predictability of something Disney or Pixar might produce. But -- of course -- with sexual diversity. This novella isn't meant to be overly complex, or political, or surprising. It's something that I hope is enjoyable because it's uncomplicated and sweet.

Hi, and thanks for the question! Yes, I have a History degree and most of my studies were in the realm of Ancient History. I particularly love Greece and Egypt. My love of History first started with a childhood obsession with mythology :)

I'm working on the sequel to 'Beneath the Surface', something that will hopefully clear up some people's questions from the first book. It, again, won't be an action-packed sci-fi because literary world building and thematic scope has always been my focus with this duology, but it'll certainly move a little differently to BTS now that everyone is above ground. Well, almost everyone.

When I was small, my mother enrolled to complete her BA with Honours. It would've been a huge step for a single parent with three children still living at home. She had to take me with her to conduct a whole host of interviews, to trawl through newspaper archives, and often I accompanied her to lectures as well. I didn't really understand what she was writing (her thesis, a rather dry piece about the history of an Australian corporation), just that she was writing. I also loved reading more than just about anything from the time I could make out the words. It seemed logical that, when my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was "a writer".
