That's never been a problem for me. I actually have too many ideas. If I'm stuck as to a scene or dialogue, I just write something and push through it. If It's not good, I don't worry about it because I know I will come back to it and can make it work during the revisions.

Being able to close the door, sit down, and escape to another world of your own creation. The only thing better is when somebody has bought your book and asks you to autograph it. Everybody should experience that at least once!

Don't quit your day job, but write as much as you can and whenever you can. Organize your thoughts, get them written down, and write what you like to read. Don't try to write in a style that doesn't suit you. Have fun with it, and don't let it become drudgery.

My current Work-in-Progress is tentatively titled, 'The Mousetrap Killer'. It's set in a town in Indiana where the Chief of Police has received messages four times in the past from a villain who claimed to have snatched a victim and dropped them into a Rube Goldberg-type booby-trapped cell. The victim is given a riddle to solve in order to escape. Problem is, no body has ever been recovered and no victim ever confirmed, so the FBI has written it off as a hoax. When the new Chief gets another message, she calls in Lear Technology and Investigations to use their new application, called SHAMUS, to help organize the clues in the past and present kidnappings. Can Marcus and his team help identify the killer and rescue the victim before it's too late?

My imagination has always spun tales and 'what if?' scenarios. It was actually my mother who first pushed me to write. When I was 17, I was complaining that I had nothing to read. My mother got tired of hearing it and said, "Well then, why don't you write something!?" Thanks to her, I have written several stories and published two novels, with another in progress.

I was reading a Sherlock Holmes story, 'The Blue Carbuncle', and thought about how modern mysteries so rarely revolve around valuable gems. My imagination took hold of that thought and the story began to write itself. Originally, the story was only going to revolve around finding the rubies, but as usual, the research provided new avenues to explore. I love it when that happens!
