Mel Schanz The feeling I get when the story leaves my mind. Not kidding. Before I release the ideas/stories I have trapped inside, I feel overwhelmed. Like my brain could seriously combust. Once the story is on paper (computer) I have an amazing sense of relief.

Of course, there's still hours of editing left to finish, but with the gist of the story out, I am calmed.

Also, reviews. I love reading what people think of my stories. Someone once told me I made them cry over a "situation" two of my characters were in. This person was overwhelmed with emotion. I was astounded I made a human being feel so greatly with my words. It was the best review I've ever had. The best feeling I've had.
Mel Schanz Two novels. Writing book 8, Southwind Rocks, in my Southwind series and editing book 6, Southwind Vacation.

i go back and forth between the books hoping to break up the editing process. I'm not the biggest fan of editing. ;-)
Mel Schanz Write. Write every day. Whether it's a thousand words or ten thousand, write something daily. Find a way. It doesn't have to be perfect. Save the editing for later.

Sometimes, I write my day, week, month, in a journal. Other times I spend an entire afternoon with a few characters. No matter what, I block off time to write something. Maybe, I'll find out it's total trash later, possibly not.

Also, get your friends and family to read your material. Take their criticism with a grain of salt and improve. No matter what, don't say you can't. Don't give up. Do it because you love to write. Do it for yourself.
