You've likely heard the cliche of only needing to see as far as your headlights. But I think of writing more like jumping yard to yard over fences. I can kind of tell what is going on in the next yard, but I won't know all the details until I do the work or 'climb the fence' to get to the next part . I also turn on Lo-fi music with no lyrics.

When I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) I found a story prompt site. I clicked through their suggestions until the prompt read "A fortune teller meets up with a grumpy Doctor. The story end at a funeral. " The story just came to me. I hope if you've read the book you can see the thread of this in the story.
