Nelson King I got the idea after researching ancient texts. The one I settled on is almost four hundred years old and to this day scholars and cryptologists have been unable to decipher the unusual drawings and symbols within its leather-bound covers. Fabian is set an overwhelming task of deciphering the codex with the help of a scholar if he is to have any chance of being reunited with his son. Of course the Illuminati feature heavily in the book and they have an ulterior motive for deciphering the text that will affect more than just Fabian’s son.
Nelson King For me if I don’t write regularly, at least three half days a week, I don’t feel content. Writing is a wonderful way to fulfill both mental stimulation and man’s (and woman’s) desire to create.
Nelson King I’m currently working on my fourth novel, the third book in the Fabian Castillion assassin suspense series. It continues with Fabian’s somewhat shadowy association with the Roman Catholic Church as head of security of a special branch tasked with protecting the Holy See from terrorist attacks and other possible threats. Such as the Illuminati. However, if you’ve read book 2 in the series, you’ll know Fabian’s son was kidnapped early on so a large part of this book deals with Fabian’s journey to rescue him.
Nelson King Probably to take a respected creative writing course. And then practise, practise, practise. It takes years to learn to create great characters and dialogue. I’m still learning myself, and I find the journey is the most enriching part of the whole process. Another good tip is to hire a good editor whom you can learn from, and if you’re lucky enough, that editor might even become a mentor to you.
Nelson King I find that there are so many topics to write about that I actually have too much material. For me it’s more about paring down the words, to reduce and cut away the outer coating to expose the ideas and narrative.
