Joe Byrd Thirty years ago, I stepped into Monet's dining room and was surprised to find Japanese woodblock prints hanging on the walls. Just like Oscar did in the opening chapter of my new book. That started me on a path of research to understand the impact of Japanese art on Impressionism. I was fascinitated by what I learned about Monet and his obsession with Japanese that kept me enthralled for thirty years until the Covid lockdown allowed me the time to write Monet & Oscar.
