Julie Coons Hi Deyae,
Thank you for asking this question. Yes, I'm the same Julie in the book. It's based on my own true story.
Julie Coons I don't think I have ever been inspired to write. I had to really force myself to write, especially in the beginning. Now after writing my first book I am starting to miss writing. Most of my time now is spent trying to promote my book which makes writing look a lot more appealing to me! I love to sit in a coffee shop and write. That is becoming one of my favorite things. Writing I guess is growing on me!
Julie Coons This is a tough one to answer, but a really cool story. I have had certain abilities since the age of 16. I came close to dying and had an out-of-body experience at the age of 15. My ability to see and hear spirits started a year later. I am what you might call a reluctant medium. I never asked for these gifts and I am still trying to consider them "gifts." I randomly see spirits, and that can be extremely scary at times, especially if they are not so friendly and especially when they come into your home and scare you by waking you up or popping out of your mirror. I went to a medium to help me with my fears. The moment she sat down with me she really validated to me she was the real deal and not some quack. I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and it's very painful. The first thing she did was place her hand right where my pain is, looked at me and said, "unspeakable pain." I was blown away. How could she have possibly known that? Then she said to me, "You really need to write a book about your life." Of course, I thought no way and rolled my eyes. Then she said, "it will really help others." I was in complete shock. I am not a writer, I have never once considered ever becoming a writer. She looked at me again and said, "you are a survivor of so many things and it's an incredible story how you escaped your abusive husband." Then she told me again, "you are going to help other's with your story." This was a lot to take and I basically procrastinated for about a year. I have another ability...procrastination. Another weird thing in my life is the number "16." It has played a very interesting part in my life. Either extremely good things or at times tragic things have happened to me on that date. So, when it became the year "2016" I decided this was the time to start writing my book. So, to answer the question, "where did I get the idea for my most recent book?" It came from the spirit world, I guess you could say.
Julie Coons I left a pretty intense story out of my first book. I am writing about it now. I was strongly encouraged to write this book (just like I was with my first book) and my response was the same as it was for my first book, "hell no!" But, then I gave it some thought and realized I really needed to write this book. It's painful to write but an incredible story that needs to be told. It's called "Why She Lied." It's another true story. It is heartbreaking and very intense, with some major suspenseful moments and a little paranormal mixed in. It's a real mixed bag of drama. I am struggling to get it done but I'm hoping by the end of the year it will be completed.
Julie Coons I'm so new to all this it's hard to say. I wrote a book about my life so I would have to say it was somewhat healing for me to write. Also, just the thought that something I said or something I experienced could help another person would be amazing. That is why I wrote my book...to try to put an end to the cycle of abuse and to help others find healing through my story.
Julie Coons I go to a coffee shop, sit down and start writing. Anything, just start writing down ideas or add on to the current manuscript. You can always go back and edit it later.
Julie Coons The best advice I can give is to have your book professionally edited and formatted. I am glad I did. It just gave me some extra peace of mind that I did everything I could for my reader.
