Dressed in white with an ugly mask on I looked like a luminous vampire creeping down the rear corridor to her desk. Horror movie star Boris Karloff would have been proud as I sneaked up on my nurse friend at 2.45 am on the surgical ward and startled her so badly she screamed a piercing scream waking the whole ward!

Writing enables me to be creative in a different sort of way. My wife is an excellent artist, my sons are creative when it comes to wood and my daughter is artistic and musical. I have none of these qualities so writing enables me to keep up with them!

Both my parents worked at Long Bay as nurses in the hospital and I grew up in a prison owned home next to the gaol.
