Though there are numerous wonderful things about being a writer, the best part, far and away, is knowing your work makes someone's life better. As you sip your morning coffee and sit down at your desk, you know you're about to change the world - every single day.

To borrow from the great Anne Lamott, "write at least 300 words a day."
Every day. Rain. Shine. Sickness. Health. Saturday and Sunday, too.
Nothing makes you a writer quite like writing.

My most recent book, EVEN IF YOU DON'T, was inspired by my late wife, Kailen.
First and foremost, it's a love story; but it also takes the reader on a journey through the trenches of our war with breast cancer.
My ultimate hope for the book is that its long-term resonance, for years and decades to come, is as a source of hope, comfort, and encouragement for hurting hearts all over the world.
Life can be a fairytale, even when it's a tragedy.

My inspiration to write is multifactorial and varies day-to-day, but the main reason I sit at my desk before dawn every morning is to HELP PEOPLE. Whether it means helping them through pain, letting them know they aren't alone, or simply entertaining them, I want to better the lives of my readers every single time I approach the blank page.

The simple answer is usually the best answer: KEEP WRITING. Even when it isn't flowing, even when it hurts, even when you're tired and frustrated -- keep writing.
