Judith Guskin Get off the computer. Throw away the paper. Take a walk. Let the ideas simmer. Often ideas come together unexpectedly. You have to try to write that scene then put it away. Later you will revisit it again and again, and decide whether to keep it or not.
Judith Guskin The best thing about being a writer is the feeling that I am creating a world for readers which introduces them to the minds and hearts of characters and their stories. I hope that I am creating empathy and new insights into human nature as well as providing some hours of entertainment.
Judith Guskin Write and read alot. Try to have patience both to revise your work and to market it. You should really want to tell your story.
Judith Guskin I was visiting a church in Leiden, The Netherlands. It was the church attended by William Bradford and the others who decided to come to establish Plymouth Plantation. I decided that I wanted to learn more about these people and their interaction with the Native Americans and other colonists. When I began to read journals as well as study historiaons I was more curious and had more questions. As time went by I decided I had to share what I learned through historical fiction since I believe it is a good way to engage people with our history. How did our values develop? Who were the people whose beliefs and actions determined who we became? The issues of religious freedom and tolerance are so important to who we are.
