Playing with the characters in my head, creating beautiful and horrific scenes, and watching where the story unfolds.

I've been playing with the idea of Dagger and Scythe as characters probably for ten years, at this point. I wanted to write a proper novel for them, but I didn't get the idea until I was writing Era of Undying (my first novel) and they appeared at the end. After that I wanted to know why they were there exactly and how they did it.

A lot of times you have to write regardless, even if your not inspired, but listening to instrumental music helps. Also just reading or watching a cool story on tv gets the blood flowing (figuratively, most of the time, my stories can be a bit violent).

My second complete novel "Dagger and Scythe." Long story short its about an undead couple taking over the land of the dead.

Grab and pen, or open your computer, and just start writing down anything. It doesn't have to be good at first, but just keep at it and your skill will grow. Also read a lot too, as much as you can, it help's you learn the craft.

Slowly, but ceaselessly. It's okay to be stuck and write one scene over the course of several days, as long as I write at least 100-200 words a day. It's small, and probably crap, but something is down, and the writer's block will pass.
