This one has been close to home. Once I hit publish on Walt's story, I tried to dive right into the planned works. However, everything written was torn out. I've over 28K written on Snake's book. So far, the total manuscript is sitting at 11K. That's four miss-starts. It's been brutal. Here's a source that has helped: Paused to Prolific by K. Webster.

Writing the story I want to read. Living it, breathing it, dreaming it. Since it takes me well over 8 months of imagineering before I get something cohesive written down, and another 3 to 6 months of honing that story, there are changes and new reveals which I don't get from a book written by someone else.

Advice is don't wait. You should let your muse free. Put the story to paper. Then, put another story to paper. Lastly, the professional game has changed. It is still changing. You can either learn on the fly with everyone else or be left behind. Do it. Do it NOW!

(view spoiler)[Snake's book. I've outlined DeSantos #3, but the characters are being dead silent. I think they are in quarantine. Either that or they are waiting for current events to settle down so I can clearly see the road ahead for them. Spoiler for DS3: Police Corruption... I haven't seen an end IRL, which is affecting the end of that book. (hide spoiler)]

This has been a struggle recently. Since I'm always at home now (thanks 2020 in all your murder hornet-mutant glory - grr) getting time to switch gears into writing mode becomes less clearly delineated. I have put on headphones, switched from my office desk (where the work-work happens) to writing while sitting on the couch in another room. If I stayed in my office for more than 9 hours a day, I'd go completely bonkers.

Mary and Walt's story began sometime in 2018. I knew there was a lot more to their tale than the cliche. It would take almost breaking them apart to make their relationship unshakable. Both characters took a long time to develop.

When I was younger, I read almost every Dragonriders of Pern novel. Back then I imagined myself as a young dragon rider, fighting the thread, having my very own dragon. Even a mini one would have been awesome.
