Reading lots and lots of romance and fantasy books helps get my creative juices flowing. Also, music. Music helps a lot. Especially country music, Travis Garland, All Time Low, and many other artists and genres.

While in high school, I fell in love with Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series and ever since then I wanted to emulate it. The guy is a genius and his work is phenomenal. So, to answer the question, I got the idea for The Crown of Amiriel from reading Tolkien's book.

Right now, I am working on several books. At the top of the list is book 2 in The Crown of Amiriel series. I'm also in the development stages for a new fantasy series involving faeries.

My advice for aspiring authors is to persevere, keep writing and never let anyone tell you that you aren't good enough. Your writing matters and someday it'll touch others and inspire them. Also, be patient and don't rush the process. Oh, and edit, edit, edit! Most importantly though, have fun and write for you!
