T. Reilly Although a good many of the stories in Overcast fall into the surreal or otherworldly, they are very much rooted in the real. It’s an observation of humanity, where we are going on this journey, and the stories are placed in an order intended to take the reader on a trip that varies in subject matter and emotion. By writing a short story collection, I could explore multiple genres to get to the core of what it means to be human, with all of its ugliness, and beauty. The collection has a similar dark and heavy-hearted mood as my novel Grayscale. It ends with a similar ambiguity, and a sprinkle of hopefulness.
