I got the idea on a busy bus on a Wednesday night in Japan. I was heading home from work, contemplating the futility of searching for purpose and came to the conclusion that even if we transcended our Earthly bonds and could traverse the stars we would still be lost as to why we existed.
The idea of the prophet system came from this theory.
