Raedene Jeannette Melin The story of Las Hermanas came to me about 5 years ago. It was the culmination of several passions and experiences in my life that suddenly blended together and morphed into this unique and powerful story about women in Latin America and their struggle to survive.
I had spent a couple years in Venezuela as a child and I fell in love with the people and culture there. My time in the jungle heavily influenced my interests and I often read books and articles on Latin American history as well as current events. So after completing my BA in History, I decided to pursue my MA and it was then, when I was choosing my classes for graduate school, that this idea formed about a South American girl, landless and unwanted, fighting for her right to live.
Raedene Jeannette Melin Be brave. Often the best stories are the hardest to tell and you're the only one who can tell it.
Raedene Jeannette Melin Keep writing, no matter how terrible it is. Any words are better than no words - you can't fix what's not there - and eventually you will get past it and find your flow again!
