White Monkey began its life as a play, "The Early Education of Conrad Eppler." The stage monkey was a prop, a stuffed toy. It was while watching the premiere production that the idea of a novel raised irresistible possibilities. Almost immediately, the monkey came alive! And I knew that white monkey. He was always waiting for his moment to arrive.
